Nwoy Defects from ADC to NDC Amid Legal Challenges

Nwoy, serving as the Senate minority whip, has officially defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC). This decision was communicated in a letter read during a Senate plenary session on Wednesday, presided over by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Nwoy attributed his move to internal divisions and multiple litigations currently facing the ADC, which he stated have destabilized the party. The recent judgment from a Federal High Court has further complicated the ADC's coalition stability.

Following Nwoy's defection, two other senators, Umeh and Rufai Hanga, also joined the NDC. The NDC now includes four senators, including its leader Henri Seriake Dickson, while five ADC senators remain, maintaining the party's status as a major opposition party in the Senate.
