Nigerian Senate Orders NNPC to Refund ₦210 Trillion Missing Funds Amid Financial Discrepancies

The Nigerian Senate has directed the NNPC to refund ₦210 trillion to the Federation Account due to discrepancies in financial records. The Senate's Public Accounts Committee, led by Senator Aliyu Wadada, found inconsistencies in NNPC's financial statements from 2017 to 2023.

NNPC's CEO, Bayo Ojulari, failed to appear before the committee, leading to the rejection of NNPC's explanations. The Senate raised concerns over NNPC's claim of paying ₦103 trillion in cash calls to joint venture partners despite lower revenues.

The committee has warned NNPC to comply with the refund order.
