Nigerian Senate Screens Nominees for Petroleum Regulatory Agencies Amid Resignations

The Nigerian Senate committee on downstream petroleum regulation has begun screening nominees for leadership roles in the country's petroleum regulatory agencies. Notable nominees include Saidu Aliyu Moham for the Nigerian Midstream Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority and Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan for the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission.

This process comes after the resignation of Farouk Ahm, the former Chief Executive Officer of NMDPRA, due to corruption allegations. President Buhari's spokesperson also announced the resignation of Bayo Onanuga and Komolaf from key positions.

The screening exercise aims to ensure compliance with the Petroleum Industry Act.
