Nigerian Senate Postpones Plenary Resumption to October 7, 2025

The Nigerian Senate has postponed the resumption of plenary by two weeks, shifting the date from September 23 to October 7, 2025. The postponement was communicated through an internal memo signed by the Chief of Staff to the Senate President, Chinedu Akubueze.

The reason cited for the delay was to allow lawmakers to fully participate in the Independence Day celebrations on October 1. This decision aligns with the Senate's annual recess that began on July 24.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio justified the move as a reciprocal act since members of the House of Representatives also went on break in line with the legislative calendar.
