Senate to Discuss Security Issues with President Tinubu

The Nigerian Senate is set to meet with President Bola Tinubu to discuss the persistent issues of killings and kidnappings across the country. The Senate, led by Opeyemi Bamidele, expressed dissatisfaction with the government's counter-terrorism measures, noting that they have not yielded the desired results.

A resolution was passed condemning the government's decision to grant pardons to repentant terrorists, which the Senate believes undermines the sacrifices made by security personnel. The motion, moved by Abdulazeez Yar Adua, also highlighted the recent deaths of retired military officers, including Major General Rabe Abubakar, who was killed by bandits.

The Senate called for an end to the practice of granting pardons to individuals involved in violent acts, emphasizing the need for urgent solutions to the security challenges facing the nation.
