Senate Urges Tinubu to Enhance Anti-Terror Operations

On Tuesday, the Nigerian Senate passed a resolution urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to sustain military operations against terrorist groups and ensure immediate compensation for families of fallen security personnel. This resolution followed the successful rescue of 39 abducted schoolchildren and seven teachers in Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State, which occurred after a coordinated military operation lasting 50 days.

Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele sponsored the motion, emphasizing the importance of maintaining momentum in the fight against insecurity. The Senate called for enhanced military resources, including modern equipment and improved welfare packages for security agencies.

The operation, which resulted in the rescue, also led to the arrest of eight suspects and the neutralization of several others. The Senate paid tribute to three fallen security personnel and urged relevant authorities to provide necessary medical treatment for those injured during the operation.

Lawmakers expressed gratitude for the rescue and called for unity in supporting Nigeria's security agencies.
