Senator Natasha Akpoti Advocates Transparency in Nigeria's Mining Sector

Senator Natasha Akpoti has urged for transparency in Nigeria's solid minerals sector at a legislative retreat. She emphasized the importance of open operations in the Ministry of Solid Minerals and called for the disclosure of contract details through the Freedom of Information Act.

Akpoti's recommendations aim to strengthen public trust and enhance investor confidence in Nigeria's growing mining industry. Additionally, the Senator raised concerns about fiscal issues and advocated for the repatriation of Nigerian women and children held in Libyan prisons.

The motion to safeguard Nigerian victims of slavery and human rights abuses in Libya was unanimously adopted by the Senate.
