Senator Yayi Wins APC Governorship Primaries in Ogun

Senator Yayi emerged victorious in the APC governorship primaries in Ogun State, receiving 304,055 votes, as announced by Wale Ohu, the chairman of the Ogun State Governorship Electoral Committee. A total of 305,287 voters were accredited for the exercise, which saw no voting irregularities across the state's 20 local government areas.

Following the results, Yayi was declared the APC governorship candidate for the 2027 elections. He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his mentorship and support throughout his 24-year political career, acknowledging Tinubu's significant role in his political rise, including his time in the Lagos State House of Assembly and the Senate.

Yayi also thanked former Ogun State Governor Olusegun Osoba and the current governor, Dapo Abiodun, for their support in facilitating the emergence of a consensus candidate. Abiodun remarked on the peaceful conduct of the primaries and the consensus reached among party members, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the party's overall interest.
