Senegal Displays AFCON Trophy Amid Legal Challenge

Senegal showcased the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy ahead of their international friendly match against Peru, despite a ruling from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) that stripped them of the title. This ruling followed Senegal's defeat to Morocco in the tournament final held in January.

In response to the CAF's decision, which awarded Morocco a 3-0 victory, Senegal announced plans to challenge the ruling at the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Reportedly, Senegal has refused to return the trophy to CAF pending the outcome of their appeal.

The team continues to assert their status as champions and displayed the trophy alongside their second star on their jerseys, maintaining their claim to the title while awaiting the final decision on their appeal.
