Senegal Celebrates AFCON Trophy Amid Legal Dispute

Senegal held a parade in Paris to honor their AFCON victory, led by player Kalid Coulibaly, despite a legal battle with Morocco regarding the final match outcome. Senegal lost the title to Morocco after a 3-0 defeat in January, which overturned Senegal's earlier 1-0 win in Rabat.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) cited Senegal's 14-minute walk-off protest during the final due to a controversial penalty decision. Senegal has appealed this ruling to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland.

Coach Pape Thiaw is facing potential sanctions for the team's protest but aims to keep the squad focused on upcoming matches, including a friendly against Peru and a clash with the Gambia national team. Meanwhile, Morocco, which has won the continental title once in 1976, is preparing to co-host the 2026 World Cup and recently drew 1-1 with Ecuador in Madrid.
