Senegal Refuses to Return AFCON Trophy to Morocco

Senegal has announced its refusal to return the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy following a decision by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) that awarded the title to Morocco. This decision stemmed from the 2025 AFCON final, where Senegal's team, led by head coach Pape Thiaw, walked off the pitch during stoppage time, resulting in a 3-0 win for Morocco.

The CAF upheld Morocco's claim, stating that Senegal's actions violated the laws of the game. Abdoulay Sow, the Secretary General of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), condemned the CAF's ruling as unjust, unprecedented, and unacceptable, accusing the organization of corruption.

He firmly stated that the trophy would "go nowhere," indicating Senegal's strong stance against the decision.
