Seplat Energy Names Elumelu Chairman, Okon CEO

Seplat Energy PLC has announced the appointment of Toni Elumelu as Chairman, effective January 2027, and Effiong Okon as Chief Executive Officer, effective August 1, 2026. This transition is part of a broader leadership strategy to steer the company into its next growth phase.

The announcement was made through a notice filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited, signed by the company secretary, Edith Onwuchekwa. Elumelu's appointment follows Heir Energy's acquisition of a 20.07% stake in Seplat Energy, making it the single largest shareholder after a $500 million transaction.

Elumelu will succeed Udoma Udo Udoma as Chairman. Okon, who has 35 years of industry experience and joined Seplat in 2018, will replace Roger Brown as CEO.

He previously served as the Managing Director of Anoh Gas Processing Company and has been instrumental in delivering the Anoh Gas project, which is set to achieve first gas by January 2026.
