Seplat Energy Announces CEO and Chairman Succession Plan

Seplat Energy Plc filed a corporate action on 9 June 2026 disclosing board and executive management changes. The filing details the retirement of CEO Roger Brown, the appointment of Engr. Effiong Okon as incoming CEO, and the planned transition of chairmanship from Senator Udoma Udo Udoma to Mr. Tony O. Elumelu.

Seplat Energy Plc has announced a succession of leadership changes at both the executive and board levels. Roger Brown, who joined the Company in 2013 as CFO and has served as CEO since August 2020, will retire as Chief Executive Officer and Board Director effective 31 July 2026. During his tenure, the Company completed the dual listing in 2014, acquired Eland Oil and Gas in 2019, and completed the acquisition of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPNU) in 2024.

Engr. Effiong Okon has been appointed as incoming CEO and Executive Director, effective 1 August 2026. He has been with Seplat Energy since 2018, serving in roles including Operations Director, New Energy Director, and most recently Managing Director of ANOH Gas Processing Company (AGPC), where he oversaw the achievement of first gas in January 2026. Before joining Seplat, he held roles at Royal Dutch Shell across Africa, the USA, Europe, and the Middle East.

Separately, Chairman Senator Udoma Udo Udoma has given notice of his intention to retire on 31 December 2026. The Board has elected Mr. Tony O. Elumelu, CFR, as the next Chairman effective 1 January 2027. Mr. Elumelu joined the Seplat Board in January 2026 and is the Founder and Chairman of Heirs Holdings, which holds a 20.07% shareholding in Seplat Energy.
