SERAP Demands Explanation from CBN Governor Over Alleged ₦3 Trillion Missing Funds

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called on the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, to provide a full explanation regarding the alleged disappearance of about ₦3 trillion in public funds. The missing funds were reported in the Auditor General of the Federation's 2022 annual report published on September 9, 2023.

SERAP is demanding accountability, urging the CBN leadership to ensure the missing money is recovered and returned to the national treasury. The organization's Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare, signed the letter dated November 15, 2025, seeking transparency and action.
