SERAP Sues Akpabio and Abbas Over ₦3m Bribe Scandal in National Assembly

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has filed a lawsuit against Senator Godswill Akpabio and Speaker Tajudeen Abbas over an alleged ₦3m "bribe-for-bills" scandal in the National Assembly. The lawsuit, filed in the Federal High Court in Abuja, aims to compel Akpabio and Abbas to refer the bribery allegations to anti-graft agencies for thorough investigation and prosecution.

The scandal involves claims that lawmakers were paid huge sums to sponsor bills and motions. SERAP condemns the alleged cash-for-bills scheme as a serious breach of public trust and violation of lawmakers' constitutional duties.

The organization seeks to protect whistleblower Ibrahim Auyo and ensure transparency in the legislative process.
