SERAP Demands Transparency on N18.6bn Allegedly Paid to Fictitious Company for NASS Office Complex

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, to disclose details about a purported fictitious company that received N18.6 billion for the construction of the National Assembly Service Commission's office complex. SERAP's Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare, called for transparency following revelations in the 2022 Auditor General's report, citing breaches in procurement procedures and potential misappropriation of funds.

The report highlighted irregularities in the allocation of funds and lack of due process in awarding contracts, raising concerns about violations of public trust and governance standards.
