SERAP Sues Akpabio and Abbas Over ₦3 Million Bribery Scandal in Nigerian National Assembly

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has taken legal action against Godswill Akpabio and Tajudeen Abbas for their alleged involvement in a bribery scandal amounting to ₦3 million within the Nigerian National Assembly. The lawsuit, filed in the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeks to compel the accused lawmakers to face investigation by anti-corruption agencies following claims made by Ibrahim Auyo, a member of the House of Representatives.

SERAP argues that such actions undermine public trust and the country's democracy. The scandal surfaced after a video of Auyo allegedly receiving money for bills and motions went viral on social media.
