Public affairs analyst Shehu condemned Bola Tinubu for the swift replacement of Nigeria's service chiefs, alleging that Tinubu's actions were politically motivated and worsened the country's insecurity. Shehu criticized the President for ignoring violent crises in various states and accused Tinubu of making decisions based on survival instincts rather than addressing the root issues.

Tinubu was also criticized for his economic policies and retaining an allegedly ineffective economic team. The appointment of Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff was confirmed following the reshuffle.
