Seven Sentenced to Death for Murder of Clergy in Rivers

On December 6, 2013, Reverend Edwin Isaiah Dokubo Harri was kidnapped in the Asari Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, leading to his murder. The Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt, presided over by Justice Boma Diepiri, sentenced seven individuals to death by hanging for their roles in this crime.

The court found that the prosecution had proven the case against Precious Jack Opara, Dick Osaki, Fubara Princ Mikado, Philip Tienabeso, Georg Seleipri Fubara, and Alaboeriya Fubara, who were convicted of conspiracy, kidnapping, and murder, as well as possession of illegal firearms. Emmanuel Isreal, the twin brother of one of the convicts, was discharged and acquitted of all charges.

The court's judgment resulted in emotional reactions from the convicted individuals' family members present in the courtroom.
