First Bank Okwaraji U-16 Cup Unveiled in Abuja

The First Bank Okwaraji U-16 Cup was unveiled at a media conference held in Abuja, attended by key stakeholders in the sports sector, including Comrade Philip Shaibu, the Deputy Governor of Edo State, and Bukola Olopade, Director General of the National Sports Commission. Shaibu emphasized the need for Nigerian youth to embody discipline and purpose, reflecting on the legacy of late Super Eagles midfielder Samuel Okwaraji, who served his country both in sports and beyond.

He noted that Okwaraji remains a shining example of patriotism and urged young Nigerians to emulate his values. Olayinka Ejabi, representing First Bank Ltd, described the sponsorship as an investment in the future of Nigerian youth, rather than a mere marketing effort.

The tournament is set to kick off on May 16, with zonal preliminary matches taking place across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones.
