Police Dismiss Papaya Ex's Assault Allegations in Lagos

The Nigeria Police Force, through spokesperson ACP Abimbola Adebisi, has countered assault allegations made by social media influencer Abik Raheem, popularly known as Papaya Ex. The incident reportedly occurred during a late-night encounter with police officers in Lagos.

According to Papaya Ex, the confrontation escalated when officers allegedly hit her in the face and assaulted her driver. She claimed that she was touched inappropriately and that her phone was forcibly taken.

However, ACP Adebisi clarified that the incident began when officers on night patrol stopped a vehicle carrying Papaya Ex and her companions for a routine search, which she bluntly refused. She opted to proceed to the police station instead, but her vehicle drove off, leaving the patrol team behind.

The police emphasized that the encounter was misrepresented on social media.
