Shehu Sani Backs US-Nigeria Military Cooperation

Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna lawmaker, expressed his support for the recent military partnership between the United States and Nigeria aimed at combating terrorism. During an appearance on Channel Television, Sani stated that Nigeria should not reject external assistance in its fight against terrorism, especially as American military personnel have recently arrived in Nigeria to aid in this battle.

He highlighted the ongoing threat posed by terrorist groups and the need for international partnerships to address these challenges. Despite concerns regarding national sovereignty and the implications of hosting foreign troops, Sani noted that the presence of terrorists already violates Nigeria's territorial integrity.

He emphasized that military cooperation is a common practice among nations and that even superpowers collaborate to achieve security objectives. This statement comes amid heightened security discussions in Nigeria and follows the confirmation from the Nigerian Defence Headquarters that 100 US military trainers have arrived as part of a bilateral security agreement.
