Shehu Sani Calls for Peace After Gov Lawal's Defection

Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker, responded to the announcement by Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal regarding his defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a statement made on Tuesday, Sani emphasized the need for a new chapter of peace and reconciliation among the political elites in Zamfara.

He noted that the ongoing political rivalry and hostility among political actors in the state have weakened efforts to tackle insecurity, particularly banditry, which has plagued Zamfara. Sani described Zamfara as the epicenter of banditry in the northwest and stressed the importance of unity among political leaders to confront the crisis.

He expressed hope that Lawal's defection would herald a new era of peace and cooperation, which is vital for addressing the security challenges that have seriously undermined coordinated security efforts in the state.
