Shehu Sani Defends Oluremi Tinubu Amid Controversy

Shehu Sani, a former federal lawmaker and human rights activist, called on Nigerians to assess First Lady Oluremi Tinubu's humanitarian contributions beyond her recent controversial comment regarding small-scale businesses, specifically her suggestion that Nigerians engage in low-capital ventures like frying "Akara" to support their livelihoods. This remark ignited significant debate on social media, with critics labeling it insensitive given the country's economic hardships.

Sani appealed for a balanced evaluation of the First Lady's public service record, highlighting her numerous humanitarian interventions and philanthropic activities since her husband, President Bola Tinubu, took office in May 2023. He noted her efforts in raising funds for various causes, including cancer research, tuberculosis eradication, and educational support for vulnerable groups.
