Shekarau Leads Northern Leaders to Boost Tinubu's Votes
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, prominent northern political leaders have formed the Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A) movement to mobilize voters across the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC). The delegation, led by Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and former Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong, met with APC National Chairman Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda in Abuja.
Shekarau stated that A4A aims to complement the APC structure by utilizing experienced political strategists to address voter apathy and enhance northern vote returns. A4A has established over 20 directorates and appointed coordinators across various electoral levels.
The group has compiled a catalog of Tinubu’s infrastructural projects in the North to counter claims of neglect. Shekarau invited party leadership to the A4A operational secretariat's commissioning on October 17, with Vice President Kashim Shettima officiating.
Yilwatda praised A4A's inclusivity and regional balance.
