Shettima Commissions First Flyover in Akure, Ondo State

On Monday, Vice President Kashim Shettima commissioned the first flyover named after Afenifere leader Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti at the Onyearugbulem/Shagari Ires Road junction in Akure, Ondo State. This strategic infrastructure project is expected to ease persistent traffic congestion and stimulate industrial and commercial development along the Akure axis.

During the ceremony, Shettima described the project as a significant improvement in traffic circulation and road safety, which will open corridors and increase economic activity. Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who joined the event alongside Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, emphasized the historical achievement of constructing the first flyover bridge in Akure.

He noted that the project addresses long-standing traffic challenges and enhances economic productivity within the metropolis. The initiative was initiated during the administration of former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and was completed under the current administration.

The flyover was named in honor of Fasoranti, who recently celebrated his 100th birthday.
