Shettima: MSMEs Key to Nigeria's Economic Prosperity

Vice President Kashim Shettima declared that Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are crucial for creating prosperity and improving the living conditions of Nigerians under President Bola Tinubu's reforms. Speaking in Abuja during the 8th National MSME Award, Shettima noted that the administration is building an ecosystem to nurture innovation and provide essential infrastructure while removing historical barriers that have hindered small businesses in Nigeria.

He urged award winners to continue building their enterprises, assuring them of government support. Shettima highlighted that MSMEs represent 90% of Nigerian businesses and employ 60 million people.

He outlined the administration's initiatives, including the expansion of MSME clinics across six geopolitical zones, which facilitate direct engagement between small business owners and regulatory agencies. He also mentioned a 75 billion naira MSME intervention fund and the disbursement of 874 billion naira to support women and youth-led MSMEs.

The event included the launch of a book titled "Build Nigeria: Empower MSMEs Compendium," documenting government interventions for MSME growth.
