Shettima Urges SWDC to Focus on Infrastructure and Jobs

On Wednesday, Vice President Kashim Shettima met with the management of the South-West Development Commission at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja. He urged the commission to measure its success by the quality of roads built, jobs created, businesses supported, and communities transformed, rather than by internal processes.

Shettima emphasized the importance of collaboration with state governments, traditional institutions, the private sector, and development partners to enhance the commission's effectiveness. He stated that the South-West region has a crucial role in Nigeria's development due to its history of enterprise and innovation.

Shettima called for integrity, innovation, and results to guide the commission's work and reaffirmed the Federal Government's support for genuine regional development efforts. Olubunmi Adetunmbi, the commission's board chairman, praised President Bola Tinubu's administration for its economic reforms and briefed Shettima on the commission's proposed roadmap for infrastructure and human capital development.
