Shettima Calls for Unity Among Kwara APC Politicians

On September 17, 2026, Vice President Kashim Shettima called for reconciliation among politicians in Kwara State during the turbanning of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the Sardauna of Ilorin Emirate by Emir Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari. Shettima referenced President Bola Tinubu's decision to forgive northern governors who opposed his 2023 presidential bid, urging Kwara politicians to view political contests as temporary and to avoid permanent divisions.

He highlighted Tinubu's perseverance despite limited support from northern governors, noting that only six out of 19 northern states backed him. Shettima encouraged politicians to learn from Tinubu's example of extending fellowship after the elections, emphasizing that political power is temporary and should be exercised with humility and a sense of service.

His appeal comes amid internal disagreements within the Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, particularly following the party's governorship primary, where some aspirants formed a group known as the G-15.
