Shettima Calls for Unity Among Kwara Politicians Ahead of 2027

On September 16, Vice President Kashim Shettima appealed to politicians in Kwara State and beyond to engage in politics without bitterness, emphasizing the need for forgiveness among political gladiators. Speaking at the turbaning ceremony of Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the Sardauna of Ilorin, Shettima highlighted that public office holders spend more time outside their roles than in them.

He urged them to serve with conscience and humility, stressing that their positions are a matter of destiny rather than personal merit. Shettima's remarks came amid internal conflicts within the Kwara chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) following the party's governorship primary elections, which led to the formation of a dissenting group known as the G-15.

He also reflected on the support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2023 elections, noting that only six out of 19 northern governors backed him. The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including governors from several states and federal ministers.
