Shi’ites Protest in Sokoto Against Ongoing Iran War

On Friday, members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, popularly known as the Shi’ite group, organized a peaceful protest in Sokoto State concerning the ongoing war in Iran. The demonstration commenced at a designated meeting point within the Sokoto metropolis, where participants remained peaceful throughout the exercise.

Security officials were present to monitor the protest, which was previously communicated to security agencies, prompting the deployment of personnel to maintain order. The Islamic Movement of Nigeria has a significant following in northern Nigeria and used this protest to express solidarity with the Iranian Shi’ite community amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, particularly following military strikes involving the United States and Israel against Iran, which have resulted in casualties across several countries.
