Singapore Sets New Rules for Pregnant Foreign Nationals

Singapore's Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) has announced specific requirements for pregnant foreign nationals who wish to give birth in the country. Applicants must submit several documents, including a valid travel document, a marriage certificate, and divorce or separation papers if applicable.

A letter from a locally registered doctor confirming the expected delivery date and any pregnancy complications is also required, along with a letter from the applicant's home country's embassy or high commission confirming the newborn's nationality and travel document issuance. Additionally, a recent colored digital photograph meeting ICA dimensions is necessary, and any documents not originally in English must have official translations.

Each applicant must have a local sponsor, who must be a Singapore citizen or permanent resident aged 21 or older, responsible for submitting the sponsorship application through the ICA e-Service. The application fee is S$45, with an additional S$60 for a Long-Term Visit Pass if approved, and S$30 for a Multiple Journey Visa if needed.
