Singapore Sets $6,000 Salary Requirement for Family Visas

The Singapore government has established a minimum income requirement for foreign workers wishing to bring family members to the country on a Long-Term Visit Pass. To qualify, a foreign worker must hold either an Employment Pass or an S Pass and earn a minimum monthly salary of $6,000 (approximately N7,985,760).

This threshold is based solely on the applicant's individual earnings; combined household income is not considered. Consequently, even if a couple's total income exceeds $6,000, if one partner's salary is below this amount, they cannot bring family members under this scheme.

This requirement poses a significant financial challenge, particularly for Nigerians and other African nationals, many of whom may earn below this threshold despite working in professional roles.
