Plateau State Police Officer Among Five Killed in Attacks

In recent attacks in Plateau State, five individuals, including a Chief Superintendent of Police, were confirmed dead following a dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed by the state government. The Plateau State Police Command reported that the police officer and three civilians were killed in separate incidents in Barkin Ladi.

Police Public Relations Officer Alfred Alabo stated that security operatives from Operation Rainbow were attacked by gunmen on Tuesday night, with one officer killed on Gagshi Road. Additionally, three civilians were killed in an attack at Rakok.

In Mangu, the Mwaghavul Youth Movement reported another incident where three men were ambushed while watching over their community. The attacks occurred despite the curfew, raising concerns about its effectiveness.

Community groups, including the Berom Youth Moulders-Association, called for stronger security operations, emphasizing that movement restrictions alone would not suffice if armed attackers could operate during curfew hours. Investigations are ongoing to identify the perpetrators.
