Six Osun Lawmakers Switch from PDP to Accord Party

On Monday, six federal lawmakers from Osun State announced their defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party during a stakeholders' meeting held in Osogbo. Clement Akanni, who represents the Boluwaduro/Ifedayo/Ila Federal Constituency, spoke on behalf of the lawmakers, which included Mahruf Adewal (Osogbo Federal Constituency), Bamidel Salam (Ede Federal Constituency), Soji Adetunji (Ikirun Federal Constituency), Mudashiru Lukman Alani (Iwo Federal Constituency), and Lanr Oladebo (Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency).

Akanni expressed confidence in Governor Ademola Adeleke's chances in the upcoming governorship election scheduled for August 15, urging party members to support and monitor the voting process. The decision to leave the PDP was attributed to internal problems within the party, as the lawmakers sought a more stable political platform ahead of the re-election bid.

Governor Adeleke had previously joined the Accord Party in December 2025 to secure the governorship ticket.
