Mother Demands Justice After Son's Police Shooting Death

Oghenemin Ogidi, a 28-year-old musician known by his stage name Mene Og Millan, was shot dead by police on April 26, 2026, in Effurun, Delta State. The incident occurred while he was handcuffed and pleading for his life, which was captured on video and went viral, triggering widespread public outrage.

His mother has publicly demanded that the four police officers present at the scene, including Assistant Superintendent Nuhu Usman, be held accountable for her son's death. She expressed that while justice cannot restore her son’s life, it is essential for the officers to face consequences.

The Delta State Police Command has since arrested Usman and transferred him to the headquarters in Abuja for disciplinary action. Police spokesman Bright Edaf confirmed that Usman is facing murder charges.

The Inspector General of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, described the shooting as an extrajudicial killing and extended condolences to the family while assuring them of justice.
