SMEDAN Trains 14,000 Entrepreneurs Under ICSS Programme

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has successfully trained 14,000 entrepreneurs through its ICSS programme, which aims to inspire the creation and scaling of businesses. This initiative was highlighted by Dr.

Charles Odii, the Director General of SMEDAN, during the ICSS4AL 2026 National MSME Summit held in Abuja. The training is part of a framework developed in collaboration with GIZ, which seeks to standardize and structure entrepreneurship development in Nigeria.

Dr. Odii emphasized that the training provides a fundamental base for Nigerian entrepreneurs, enabling them to establish stronger businesses and clearer paths to credibility.

Additionally, Dr. Marku Wagner, Director of GIZ Nigeria, noted that sustainable economic development and job creation are key priorities for Nigeria, necessitating collaboration between public institutions and the private sector to create practical systems that support entrepreneurs in overcoming barriers, particularly in accessing structured support and affordable financing.
