SoftBank and Oracle Partner with OpenAI in $10B Data Center Project

SoftBank and Oracle have joined OpenAI in a significant initiative to construct five new data centers, costing $10 billion, to enhance artificial intelligence capabilities. OpenAI plans to increase its project capacity to 7 gigawatts, sufficient to power 5 million households.

Oracle is developing three new data center sites in the U.S., while SoftBank is working on two locations. The project aims to host millions of graphic processing units (GPUs) for training complex AI models, with a strategic focus on Asia.
