Sokoto Governor Aliyu Strengthens Anti-Banditry Efforts

During the eighth regular meeting of the State Executive Council, Sokoto Governor Ismail Umar Aliyu emphasized the state government's enhanced approach to combat banditry, which is reportedly yielding positive results. He noted that collaboration with conventional security agencies has led to increased engagements with bandits, resulting in the recovery of rustled livestock in areas such as Rabah, Tureta, and Kebbe Local Government Areas.

Recent operations have also included rescuing individuals from captivity. Governor Aliyu mentioned the provision of armoured vehicles and operational equipment to security agencies, aimed at bolstering efforts to protect rural communities and restore normalcy in banditry-affected areas.

He assured residents of ongoing support for security agencies to safeguard lives and property and called for public cooperation in achieving lasting peace. Additionally, he highlighted progress in healthcare, education, road infrastructure, water supply, religious affairs, and empowerment programmes over the past three and a half years.
