Sokoto Coalition Urges Sustained Primary Healthcare Reforms

The Sokoto State Government has been urged to sustain and expand its reforms aimed at strengthening primary healthcare and improving access to essential health services. This call was made by a coalition of civil society organizations, led by Comrade Salisu Mohammed, who commended Governor Ahmad Aliyu, the state Ministry of Health, and Dr. Bilyaminu Yari Sifawa, the Acting Executive Secretary of the Sokoto State Primary Health Care Development Agency, for significant progress in healthcare delivery.

The coalition highlighted achievements such as the renovation of healthcare centers in Mandera, Kaurar Kimba, and Achida, as well as the Maternity Waiting Home at PHC Kwannawa. They praised immunization campaigns targeting diseases like polio and measles-rubella across 23 local government areas.

The coalition emphasized the importance of accountability, urging the government to ensure that public resources and donor-supported interventions reach beneficiaries while allowing civil society to monitor implementation.
