Sokoto Labour Party Elects Yawal Abubakar as Chairman

On Saturday, during a state congress held at the Labour Party headquarters in Sokoto, Yawal Abubakar was elected as the new chairman. The election process, overseen by Prof.

Mahmud Muhammad, was declared free, fair, and credible, reflecting the collective will of party members across the state. Abubakar committed to rebuilding the party's structure and engaging youth and women, focusing on grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He criticized the APC-led government for economic hardships, rising food prices, and unemployment. The congress produced 24 executive members, including vice chairmen and leaders for three senatorial districts, as well as women and youth leaders.

Senat Nenadi Usman commended the party's national leadership, while Aminu Umar, the party's 2023 governorship candidate, described the congress as peaceful. The Labour Party aims to expand its membership and present alternative policies to address the issues facing the people of Sokoto State.
