Anambra Labour Party Elects Peter Okoy as Chairman

The Labour Party (LP) in Anambra State elected Peter Okoy as its new chairman during a successful state congress held on Sunday in Awka. Alongside Okoy, the newly elected executive members include Chigbo Ogudeb as vice chairman, Godwin Ibekwe as secretary, Nkemakonam Okoli as public secretary, Emma Uduaka as legal adviser, Ifeyinwa Ezenwa as woman leader, and Jerri Nnubia as treasurer.

The executive members took an oath of office, with Okoy commending party members for their commitment and urging them to support the new leadership. He assured members of an inclusive administration aimed at ensuring the party's victory in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Edozi Ezeugwa, a chieftain of the party, praised the peaceful conduct of the congress and highlighted the potential for the LP to strengthen its political position in Anambra and Nigeria at large. The congress was monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission, with delegates from 21 local government areas participating.
