Sokoto Lawmaker Ibrahim Lamido Joins ADC from APC

Ibrahim Lamido, a lawmaker representing the Sokoto East Senatorial District in the upper legislative chamber, has formally resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and plans to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC). His resignation letter, addressed to the APC chairman of Isa South Ward in Isa Local Government Area, is dated April 22, 2026.

Lamido cited persistent internal leadership crises within the state chapter of the APC as the primary reason for his decision. He emphasized that the ongoing internal party crisis and suspicions regarding the leadership style within the Sokoto state chapter have made it increasingly difficult for him to continue his membership in good conscience.

He expressed that the lack of cohesion and unresolved disputes within the party significantly hinder progress and unity. Lamido has indicated that he will pick up his membership card for the ADC, marking a significant shift in his political affiliation.
