Sokoto State Government Boosts ICAN Membership for Accountants

The Sokoto state government has pledged to enhance professionalism in the public finance sector by increasing the number of accountants enrolled in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). This commitment was articulated by the Deputy Accountant General of Sokoto State, Alhaji Junaidu Usman Junaidu, following his receipt of the Award of Excellence from the Sokoto and District Society of ICAN.

Junaidu stated that the administration of Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto is dedicated to building the capacity of accounting professionals within the state civil service to improve financial governance and service delivery. He highlighted the government's recognition of the crucial role professional accountants play in promoting fiscal discipline and managing public resources effectively.

Junaidu assured that the governor would support initiatives aimed at increasing the number of ICAN-certified professionals, thereby creating opportunities for accountants to achieve professional qualifications. He emphasized that investing in training and certification will lead to better accountability and enhanced public confidence in government financial administration.
