Soldiers Arrest IPOB Suspect, Recover IEDs in Imo State

On Monday, soldiers from the 82 Division Joint Task Force in Southeast Nigeria apprehended a suspect identified as Mr. Onyebuchi Dara, 28, in Ehioma Junction, Orsu Local Government Area, Imo State.

The arrest was part of a clearance operation linked to earlier attacks on security personnel. Mr.

Dara had previously benefited from an amnesty program but reportedly went underground due to fears of attacks. Preliminary interrogations indicated that he allegedly admitted to being present during an incident that resulted in the deaths of two soldiers, MWO Linu Musa and Pte Gloria Matthew Ubaha, in Orsu in 2022.

The troops also discovered five improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in the area, which had been abandoned for years. These devices were safely neutralized by ordnance disposal experts to prevent potential harm to troops and civilians.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts to degrade hostile networks and restore security in the Southeast region.
