Soldiers from the Joint Military Task Force successfully foiled multiple kidnapping attempts and rescued ten victims across Plateau and Kaduna states. The operations, disclosed by Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, occurred within 48 hours, emphasizing the military's commitment to security in the region.

On June 5, 2026, troops in the Riyom Local Government Area responded to reports of kidnappings along the highway, discovering an abandoned ash-colored Honda vehicle. A tactical team conducted a thorough search, leading to the rescue of six individuals who were kidnapped while traveling on a commercial vehicle from Lafia, Nasarawa State.

Additionally, troops in Bokko Local Government Area responded to an urgent distress call from Faggem village, successfully rescuing a pastor's wife during an ongoing abduction attempt. The operation resulted in the couple sustaining injuries during the initial assault, prompting their evacuation to a medical clinic for treatment.

The military has initiated a manhunt to track down the fleeing suspects.
