Nigerian Troops Rescue Kidnap Victims in Zamfara, Katsina

On July 19 and 20, 2023, Nigerian troops conducted successful operations in Zamfara and Katsina states, foiling an abduction attempt and rescuing several kidnap victims. The operations were part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks in the northwest region.

On July 20, troops responded to a distress call from residents in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, leading to a swift intervention that caused the terrorists to flee without carrying out the abduction. Additionally, on July 19, troops patrolled Faskari Local Government Area in Katsina State, rescuing three victims who had escaped from a terrorist hideout during heavy rainfall.

These victims had been abducted on July 14 while working on a farm in Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara State. The military also intercepted a vehicle carrying ten motorcycles believed to be destined for terrorist elements in Kebbi State, resulting in the arrest of four suspects.

The Nigerian Military commended the troops for their professionalism and urged the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies.
