Soldiers Rescue 33 Kidnapped Passengers in Zamfara

On August 8, 2023, troops from the Joint Task Force North-West, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully rescued 33 passengers who had been kidnapped by terrorists in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The rescue operation was initiated following intelligence received by the troops regarding the abduction of commuters traveling through the Magazu area.

Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer of JTF North-West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, reported that troops from Sector 2, in collaboration with personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, acted promptly upon receiving the information. They engaged the terrorists, who were attempting to move the abducted passengers to an undisclosed location.

The effective response forced the terrorists to abandon the victims, allowing the troops to secure and rescue all 33 individuals without any casualties. The Theatre Commander of Operation FANSAN YAMMA praised the troops for their professionalism and swift action, reaffirming the commitment to protect citizens and secure transportation routes in the North-West.
