Soludo Commits to Compensate Residents Affected by Demolition

Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has committed to compensating residents whose homes were demolished as part of the ongoing widening of the Afor Nnobi roundabout in Idemili South LGA. During a meeting on September 16 with Nnobi traditional ruler Igwe Nick Obi and local stakeholders at the Light House in Awka, Soludo instructed the Commissioner for Works, Arc.

Okey Ezeobi, to ensure the construction of new accommodation and the relocation of three individuals affected by the demolition. The governor's remarks followed public outcry regarding the destruction of properties and livelihoods.

He emphasized that the project aims to transform the roundabout into a five-lane junction to alleviate traffic congestion, particularly during festive seasons. Soludo noted that delaying the demolition could lead to further property damage in the future.

Chief Sir Alloy Olubialu, President General of Nnobi Town Union, expressed gratitude for the meeting, which also addressed the relocation of the Afor Nnobi market and compensation for affected individuals.
