Soludo Defends Anambra Road Projects Amid Flooding Criticism

On Thursday, Governor Prof. Charles Soludo of Anambra State responded to critics who claimed that the road projects executed by his administration were of poor quality and susceptible to flooding. Speaking through his Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Arch.

Okey Ezeobi, Soludo pointed out that the flooding had been predicted by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) and was part of a global climate change issue. Ezeobi noted that Anambra had experienced several rainy seasons since Soludo took office four years ago, and the current flooding was exacerbated by unusually heavy rainfall this year.

He stated that no infrastructure could completely prevent flooding, citing similar issues in other countries, including the United States. Ezeobi emphasized that the roads had not collapsed in previous rainy seasons and criticized the blame directed at the government for natural occurrences.

He also mentioned that Anambra is facing challenges from gully erosion, which affects its landmass.
